Screen cracked, flickering or not responding
If the glass is intact, restart the phone, disconnect charging accessories and check whether a case or screen protector is interfering with touch. Keep the screen clean and dry. Avoid pressing on cracked glass or a lifting display.
A damaged display may need replacement, but a black screen can also have a power or other hardware cause. Send the exact model, whether it rings or vibrates, and what happened before the fault. I confirm the repair and screen grade before booking.
Battery draining quickly or not charging
For an undamaged, dry phone, try a known-working compatible cable, charger and socket. Do not use damaged charging accessories or insert tools into the port. Check Battery settings for unusual app use and battery condition, where available.
Charging that pauses around 80% can be normal charge management or a temperature response. It does not by itself mean the battery needs replacing. If a battery or port replacement is appropriate, I quote it for your exact model; straightforward battery replacement is £59 labour plus the battery. The latest two released generations add £15 labour once per repair.
Camera blurry, shaking or showing a black image
Remove accessories that could obstruct the lens or affect the camera, gently wipe the lens with a microfibre cloth, restart, and compare the front and rear cameras. Tell me which camera or zoom setting is affected and whether the lens glass is damaged.
Camera replacement is considered after model and calibration checks. A camera repair does not include Face ID repair.
Speaker, microphone, buttons or charging port
Tell me exactly when the fault happens: calls, speakerphone, recordings, charging or a particular button. Note whether it started after a drop, liquid exposure or another repair. Symptoms alone do not identify which part has failed.
I consider replacement of these parts where the model, tools and testing allow. If the cause is unclear, a separately agreed £39 diagnostic visit covers up to 30 minutes. That fee is credited once against repair labour if you accept the resulting quote within 14 days.
Liquid alerts, unusual heat or a lifting screen
Disconnect a charging cable if a liquid alert appears and allow the phone and cable to dry naturally. Do not use rice, external heat, compressed air or objects inserted into the connector. Follow the manufacturer’s advice before reconnecting.
Stop using or charging a device with suspected battery swelling, damage or unusual heat, and seek appropriate professional advice. Do not press a lifting screen back down or open the battery yourself. Contact me before arranging any ordinary repair visit; unsafe devices may need a specialist.
Choosing the repair and the part
Your written quote identifies the part, grade, total price and known limitations. Higher-grade screens can be requested. Aftermarket parts are described honestly; parts messages, calibration and feature differences are discussed before you agree. Opening and resealing does not promise the original water-resistance rating.
I do not offer board repair, microsoldering, liquid-damage recovery, Face ID or Touch ID repair, or activation-lock bypass. If your device needs one of these, the next step is a suitable specialist or the manufacturer.
