iPhone battery draining quickly

Check battery use, health and charging habits before arranging a replacement.

See safe first checks

What the symptoms may tell you

A short runtime can come from battery wear, heavy app use, weak signal, background activity or temperature. A percentage reading alone is not a complete diagnosis.

Safe checks to try first

  1. 1Review Battery settings for recent app activity and battery health where your model shows it.
  2. 2Compare normal use over a day with a day of unusually heavy camera, navigation or hotspot use.
  3. 3Check for a recent software update and note whether drain began immediately afterwards.

What to avoid

Do not continue to use or charge a swollen, damaged or unusually hot battery.

Next step

Send the iPhone model, battery health reading if available, age of the battery and a description of normal runtime.

What I can help with

A straightforward battery replacement is offered by model quote. It cannot fix every source of high power consumption.
