iPhone no signal or SIM problem

Separate coverage, account, SIM and device faults before seeking hardware work.

What the symptoms may tell you

No Service, SOS only and SIM errors can result from network coverage, an inactive plan, SIM or eSIM setup, software or hardware. Check whether other phones on the same network work nearby.

Safe checks to try first

  1. 1Confirm the mobile plan is active and check your provider's service status.
  2. 2Restart the phone, check Airplane Mode and inspect Cellular settings without removing an eSIM plan.
  3. 3Try a known-working physical SIM only if your model and provider support one.

What to avoid

Do not erase an eSIM or reset the phone without confirming how to reactivate your service and preserve your data.

Next step

Contact the network provider first for account or coverage errors. Send the model and exact message if a device fault remains.
