iPhone won't turn on

First checks for an iPhone with no display, sound or response.

See safe first checks

What the symptoms may tell you

No visible response can involve an empty battery, failed cable, damaged display or internal hardware. A phone that vibrates or rings is a different diagnostic case.

Safe checks to try first

  1. 1Use a known-working compatible charger and socket on a dry, undamaged phone.
  2. 2Try Apple's model-specific force restart after allowing charging time.
  3. 3Check whether the phone rings, vibrates or appears on a trusted computer.

What to avoid

Do not keep charging a wet, swollen, bent or unusually hot device, and do not restore it if data is not backed up.

Next step

Send the model, last known battery level, what happened before it stopped and any sign of life.

What I can help with

Battery, charging and screen repairs may be considered after diagnosis; board and data-recovery work are excluded.

Reviewed 3 October 2026. General guidance; diagnosis and parts depend on the exact device and its condition. This page does not confirm a booking or repair.
