iPhone not charging

Test cable, adapter, socket and phone symptoms without damaging the charging connector.

See safe first checks

What the symptoms may tell you

Intermittent charging, slow charging, no charging symbol and a liquid alert have different causes. A port replacement is only one possibility.

Safe checks to try first

  1. 1For a dry, undamaged phone, try a known-working compatible cable, adapter and socket.
  2. 2Check whether the connector sits normally; look for obvious debris with a light, without inserting an object.
  3. 3Restart the phone and note whether wireless charging works on a model that supports it.

What to avoid

Do not use a damaged cable, force a plug, or insert metal tools or liquids into the port. Follow the liquid-alert guidance if one appears.

Next step

Send the exact model, connector type, charger tried and whether the charging icon appears or cuts in and out.

What I can help with

A battery or port repair may be quoted after diagnosis; charging faults can also involve circuitry outside this service.
