What the symptoms may tell you
A cursor, backlight, manufacturer logo or external display image can narrow the problem. Software, display cable, panel and power faults can all leave a dark screen.
Safe checks to try first
- 1Disconnect external displays and accessories, check brightness and make sure the device has power.
- 2For Windows, Microsoft's basic display recovery shortcuts may help when the system is otherwise responsive.
- 3Note whether an external monitor works and whether the laptop screen has cracks or flicker.
What to avoid
Do not reset or reinstall Windows while important data is unbacked-up just because the display is blank.
Next step
Send the exact model, what appears at startup and whether an external display works.
What I can help with
Standard panel replacement is available for compatible laptops after a diagnosis; bonded or complex assemblies need an individual quote.
