What the symptoms may tell you
One damaged game install differs from repeated database errors, slow loading or a drive that is no longer detected. The message alone does not prove that a replacement drive is needed.
Safe checks to try first
- 1Record the exact error code and whether it affects one game or the whole console.
- 2Check what saved data is already backed up before deleting a game or changing storage.
- 3Follow PlayStation's least-disruptive troubleshooting guidance for the exact message.
What to avoid
Do not initialise, format or reinstall system software while irreplaceable saves or captures may exist only on the drive.
Next step
Send PS4, Slim or Pro model, error code, current drive size and what data must be preserved.
What I can help with
A compatible PS4 SSD replacement can be assessed. Failing-drive data recovery and a guaranteed fix for crashes are not offered.
