What the symptoms may tell you
A frozen cursor can be a software or input-setting issue. A trackpad that physically lifts or becomes hard to click may indicate a swollen battery beneath it.
Safe checks to try first
- 1If the case is flat and safe, restart and try an external mouse.
- 2Check the trackpad enable setting and whether the fault begins before or after sign-in.
- 3Look at the case edge for lifting or gaps without pressing it down.
What to avoid
Stop using and charging the laptop if the trackpad or case is bulging. Do not force a raised pad flat.
Next step
Send the model, whether an external mouse works and whether the pad is physically raised.
What I can help with
Battery replacement may be considered after safety review; trackpad and board repairs require model-specific assessment.
