What the symptoms may tell you
One unreadable disc may be damaged; every disc failing may point to the drive or console. A download-only console cannot accept discs.
Safe checks to try first
- 1Confirm the model has a disc drive and that the media type is supported.
- 2Inspect the disc for damage and clean it with a suitable soft cloth from centre outward.
- 3Try a second known-working compatible disc and record the exact error.
What to avoid
Do not force a disc into a resistant drive or use a lens-cleaning product inside the console without manufacturer guidance.
